I am very sad you need this - really!

Here are some things you can do before you need to contact me:

1. If the app worked fine for you and now it doesn't - try to delete and reinstall. I know it shouldn't happen but it does even on an iPhone/iPad ;-)

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

1. Right after launch the app is irresponsive - there's no reaction.

Upon first launch of the App and once a day (if an update is available) the app processes the track data updates. Depending on the model and speed of your iPhone/iPad (iPhone 3GS, iPhone4) you may feel some decrease in responsiveness. With several thousand tracks the process may take up to 2 minutes. In the top status bar you will see a spinning indicator and/or text about the running action. Just wait a little and all will be fine. We reduce this effect very much in version 2.1 but on the 4 year old iPhone 4 it is still noticeable.

2. Why is the distance to the track not correct?

The distances to the tracks is estimated using “cell tower triangulation” and shows the linear distance not the distance when traveling on roads! Actually this is good news this method does not consume any additional batter power and an accuracy of 1 to 2 kilometers is fine enough. Measuring/calculating the road distance online is not possible these days - as soon as it is we will support it.

3. While i am on the road i cannot see the pictures.

After installation of the App the pictures are loaded “online” so you need a data connection so get them. If you plan to travel to low data speed/connection areas or abroad you can make the App to pre download all the pictures. Choose “Preferences” from the side bar menu und activate “Make pictures available offline”. “mx tracks” will then immediately download all the pictures for all the tracks as long as the App is active. If you switch the App to the background download will stop and resume as soon as it is active again. ATTENTION depending on the setting “Load pictures on Wifi only” this will consume cellular data.

4. Do i need a WIFI connection for photo up-/download?

The short answer is NO - but… If you do have a data volume limited contract or pre-paid card we recommend using the preference “Load pictures on Wifi only” set to ON! Pictures and comments/ratings of others users will then only be downloaded if your iPhone/iPad has an active WIFI connection.

5. How data is transferred with the automatic data update upon launch of the app?

Each day there is an automatic one time update check with our servers. The data amount transferred varies between 500 und 1000 characters. If the preference “Load pictures on Wifi only” IS NOT ACTIVATED, metadata information about new pictures and all the new comments/ratings from other users are loaded each time you start or bring the app to the foreground. This amount of data varies from 250 bytes to several thousand bytes depending on how much user activity has been there since your last App start.

6. Why doesn't the picture i just uploaded show up in track's detail?

Due to the nature of “open services” and the fact that also your kids might use the App to view infos about tracks, we implemented a picture review that prevents picture to pushed to your iPhone/iPad that are improper for kids or might be considered offensive.

7. The comments and ratings on my favorite track are horrible and wrong it got only 1 star!

Ratings and comments are truly subjective! A track perfectly suited for beginners and less advanced riders and has lots of them every training day, maybe a kind of a nightmare for skilled fast riders because of that!? Simple obstacles that are fun for pure hobbyist riders are boring and undemanding for the skilled fast amateurs and semi professionals. So read the comments and texts and get the info that is really in there. And if there is something offensive and misguided language - just let us know by touching the “exclamation mark” button and we take a look into it and correct or remove the comment/rating if necessary.

8. Why can’t i see track “XYZ” in my list?

There may be multiple reasons for this: 

1. WORST CASE: We deleted the track because we where notified it does not exist anymore! :-( 

2. Check your filter settings! 

- In the track list view touch the “Filter” button in the bottom right corner of your phone. The Filter view is displayed. 

- Touch “No filter” in the upper left corner - this clears ALL previously set filters. - check the country settings and if needed touch the country filter line. - select “All” in the bottom left corner of the filter screen. 

- Touch the “Done” button in the upper right corner of your screen. That’s it! Now you see all the more than 2.000 tracks we currently have in our database. If you can’t find the track you look for - let us know it’s name and approximated location and we will research any info we can find on the vast space of the internet and add the track!
